M1- Create a report or presentation on yourself.

My style of photography is urban photography. This is because focusing on the study of objects and elements in an urban society usually emphasises the surroundings and uses them to create meaning. I prefer images that are taken in the dark this is because images in the dark are easier to create mystery in images. I also like to capture shots of big cities of buildings to show the work that humans have created in big cities in the world.

These images are examples of my urban style photography. These two shots that I have taken beforehand are focusing on certain objects in an urban society to emphasis the surroundings and to create meaning in the photos. These shots are captures of human made designs which is a similar description to my influence in photography.

This images that I have taken influence from is an image that has been taken in a New York train station. I like this images because the genre of the city is so broad that it is hard to figure out which city it was taken in. The shutter speed of the image has been slowed down in order to capture the trains going through the train station at the correct time. The shutter speed on the camera will be between 1/4-1/2 in order to get the correct shot. The image breaks the golden ratio. This means that the photo can only be chopped into 2 boxes because it is symmetrical. This is because of the symmetry in the image. The symmetry makes it pleasing in the eye. It also defies something being clean, proportional and balanced. It also makes the picture appear neat, tidy and clinical. The shallow depth of field that occurs in the image, this helps eliminate distracting details in the background. The black and white colours show that this image is timeless and can be enjoyed by multiple generations. The black and white image can also evoke a nostalgic or sad mood which colourful images simply can't evoke. It could also show a version of reality which colourful images can't do.

This image that I have taken influence from is an image that has been taken in New York, United States. The broken fence could show signs of freedom. This means that the other side of the fence is the freedom and the people on the wrong side of the fence are trapped. I like this image because the genre of the city is so clear because you can tell that the City in the picture is New York. In the image, New York is seen as the golden City/ a place of freedom. This means that people are trying to break through the fence to make it to New York. The shutter speed on the camera has been slowed down in order to capture the middle image which is New York. The shutter speed will be between 1/125 and 1/250. This is because it doesn't need to be slowed down too much to the point where there main image is blurry. The golden ratio applies to this image. This means that the content on the image starts on the side of the image. This makes the picture seem neat, tidy and clinical.

This image that I have taken influence from is a black and white image of the tube station in London. The image being black and white could suggest that the image is timeless and can be enjoyed by generations of people. I like this image because of the city it has been taken in which is London. The black and white of the image could also suggest sadness. This is also shown because their is nobody there which could connote loneliness and sadness. In order to get the black and white image, the photographer who took the image will need to lower the ISO to the lowest possible ISO setting and lowered the shutter speed to capture the most contrast possible for the image. The golden ratio applies in this image. This means that the main part of the image is on one side of the image and not in the centre. This means that symmetry doesn't occur in this image. I also like this image because it isn't broad to which city the image is taken in. This is because the London Underground train station is the only underground train station in the UK.

Bruce gilden said that he has no ethics when he is taking photos. He takes images of the public without their consent in order to get a good portrait image. This will not be the case when I am taking my images. I will get release forms for the people that will be involved in my images. I will also ask for consent from members of the public if I need them to act as a model in my images.
