M4- What is metadata?

The metadata is a set of data which describes and gives information about other data. In photography for example, the metadata gives information about the rights and administration of an image. It allows information to be transported with an image file in a way that can be understood by other software and human users. For example, the metadata can include attributes about an image such as its; height, width or the type of compression used to store it. The metadata can also be used to describe the content of an image, the name of the photographer and the date and time which the image was taken.

EXIF data means exchangeable image file format. This is basic metadata that is generated and stored by the camera whenever you take a photo. IPTC is the most used metadata and refers to information that describes something about an image. IPTC defines metadata structure, properties and fields so that images are optimally accessed.

The metadata is on the right of the image. I had to fill in the title, caption, copyright, file name, when it was captured, the location, city, county and country.
